The ARCO on 85th & Aurora is down to $2.59 for regular gas. Anyone know of anything cheaper in North Seattle? These days, I'll take every penny.
Thanks!

Since my truck doesn't like ARCO I've got to go for the pricier stuff. The SHELL at the intersection of 15th Ave NE and Ballinger Way N (exit #177 off I-5 heading north) has regular unleaded for $2.65/gal. That's almost a cheap as the ARCO nearby at $2.63/gal.
Strange how the CHEVRON across the street is still selling regular @ $2.85/gal. Maybe a little lining of the pockets going on???

I usually go to the Arco on Roosevelt Way NE and Northgate Way--cheapest prices I ever see. also, if you like to shop at Safeway, you can get a .6 cent/gallon discount if you buy $50 worth of groceries at one time. The nearest Safeway gas is up on Hwy 522 in Kenmore, or there's one in Bellevue, but those might be too far. I almost wish I could buy a whole bunch of gas when it's cheap and store it some where, but I don't think my landlord would go for that. :)

Chevron with techron is what our mechanics recommend. It's the best gas for your engine because it burns clean. Cheaper gas add fillers to compensate for the price drop and your engine takes the beating as well as lowering your gas milage. I've seen major repairs going up past $1000 caused by many factors but one of which was the use of cheaper gas. I recommend saving yourself from the hassle and expence of a major engine repair.

Great tips! I just filled up my tank (thanks Robyn!) and I usually go to my local Chevron station because it's convenient, but it's good knowing it's worth paying a little more for, espcially since I keep my eyes open for Arco stations these days. Thanks everyone!

Shell is a nice place to go since if you get their Shell credit card, you get 5% off gas. That can be about 10 cents off. It's useful even if you only use the card for buying gas.

One way to look at it, is to figure out WHO is getting your money, not just how much of it.
Myself, I always fill up at Citgo stations (usually the brand sold at 7/11), because it's a company wholly owned by the Venezuelan government. So you know your money is definitely not going to the Saudis and their friends in the US government. Besides, Hugo Chavez has repeatedly offered to sell or give away low-cost gas and heating oil to underprivileged communities in the US, e.g. after Katrina. And it's pretty cheap, too.

Excellent point Fulvio. Personally, I think we ought to be pushing US companies to follow the leadership of European companies BP and Royal Dutch Shell towards more environmentally and socially conscious business models. There's a good article about that here:
